 The
Beaches (Pond of Thau)
Balaruc les Bains is a thermal spa
located by the sea, it thus offers to the visitors the
joy of thermal care and the benefits of the beach as well
as the sea air from the Mediterranean. All the leisures
of the sea are offered by the town, swimming, windsurfing,
pedal boats etc… at the nautical base. Balaruc has
a sand beach where leisure, sports and idleness are on
the agenda! The proximity to the Mediterranean sea also
gives access to the beaches which border the town of Sète.

 Located
by the pond of Thau, seven
kilometers only from Sète, this thermal spa attracks
customers by its animation, its thermal care and the softness
of its climate. In the center of the city, the first hydropathic
establishment which was built in 1753, shelters the Tourist
office today. This station became the second station of
France by its frequentation and the quality of the care.
It accomodated up to 35.000 curists each year.
- The thermal baths of Balaruc
les Bains are filled with waters coming from
the Lac de Thau and they offer water among hottest of
the littoral (49° on average). This water is also
amongst the richest in minerals and other trace elements
(calcium, magnesium, etc…). The cures of Balaruc
thus are an ideal treatment against the various types
of rheumatisms: osteoarthritis, tendinitises, etc…
Moreover, the Thermal baths have their own laboratory
and constantly checks water quality. Curative muds are
prepared starting from sediments extracted from the basin
of Thau and are mixed with water.

"Notre Dame des Eaux" which is
one of the most characteristic monuments of the
art of the brothers of Maguelone and which bears
the name given to the peninsula (Sancta Maria de
Aquis) in the past.
