By road: Take the road to the beaches from the Antigone district in the Carnon/ La Grande Motte direction. Get of the road at Petit travers approximatly 12 kms from Montpellier.

"Le petit Travers"
This is the name of the beach wich is in between Carnon and La Grande Motte. It is a 10 km long sand beach borded by dunes. There is a little road going along Le petit travers on which you can park your car.On the other side of this road you will find more dunes, some little pounds but no houses. Le Petit Travers makes it possible to enjoy the sea without having concreat and buildings all around. Ice cream, sweets and donuts sellers walk around the beach durring the summer but it have no true shops , just a chips lorry parke there from time to time.
Last but not least the Petit Travers has no regulations concerning dogs so they often comme for a swim after most of the people have gome home from the beach. This is therefore the ideal beach if you wish to enjoy a wild beach away from towns but only 12 km from Montpellier.
