AOC
Faugères
THE AOC Faugeres exists since 1982. This naming groups
together red wines and rose wines.
It recovers wines produced in the North region of Béziers
and Pézenas, territory of 18000 ha which leaves
the plain to stop on the first slopes of Cevennes about
600 m of height.
Grounds especially consist of schists what is particularly
favorable to the culture of the vine because this type
of ground stores the heat during the day and restores
it at night what privileges the maturation of the grape.
The climate is Mediterranean, very sunny, dry and soft
for the temperatures. (Except on the heights). The main
vines for the red and the rosé are Carignan,
Cinsault, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah.
They are round wines, in the silky tannins, in soft
flavors of fruits walls and licorice. They age well
by revealing, with years, pleasant bouquets with notes
of leather and flint. They accompany very favorably
meats and poultry and especially the pieces of beef
or the game.
